Open Lock Update Attendance
Open Core Settings → HRM Settings → Lock Attendance. The existing standalone screen and inline settings entry share the same staff lock layout choice. Classic opens first unless another default is saved. Try the new layout and View old layout switch both ways. Switching on the same screen keeps its query, hash, navigation state and same mounted daily/monthly cutoff drafts. Inside settings it keeps the real container and selected item. Different-page navigation remains unchanged; switching does not save or unlock attendance.
Make this my default or Make old layout my default saves your own choice at this institute. Monthly Attendance and student reports keep separate layout choices. Other users keep their defaults. Retry a failed default save; the previous choice remains.
Set the cutoffs
Lock Attendance is an inclusive daily date: marking and updating attendance on or before it are guarded by the existing lock. Lock Monthly Attendance guards monthly save/remove by the selected year and month. Generated salary checks apply independently.
Update saves both fields together. A blank field clears that cutoff. Review both values before updating. Changing layouts does not save or unlock anything.
Unlock and correct
Unlock uses the saved cutoff and asks for explicit confirmation. It subtracts one calendar day. For a monthly cutoff, this reopens a month only when the new date crosses into the previous month, because monthly checks compare year and month.
After correcting attendance, set the required cutoffs again. These are staff locks, with no per-employee exception. Existing Delete Attendance behavior is separate: the daily lock does not guard that deletion action. Keep the existing delete permission with the appropriate staff.
Loading and errors
Controls wait while loading, updating or unlocking. A failed load offers Retry. Update and Unlock retain the original permission checks; changing the layout does not grant attendance access.
